Manchester United can move one step closer to winning the Premier League title today.

United know a win away to Sunderland in the early kick off will move them 18 points clear of neighbours Manchester City who play at 3pm.

United striker Robin van Persie scored three in two games for Holland in the international break and manager Alex Ferguson says that can only be a good thing for the club.

City manager Roberto Mancini has already conceded the title race but the champions will be hoping to keep up the pressure on their rivals as they play host to Newcastle in one of today's 3pm kick-offs.

The battle for the other Champions League places also continues today. Chelsea who start the afternoon in third place are away to Southampton while fourth-placed Tottenham are away to Swansea looking to end a run of three defeats.

Arsenal host struggling Reading at the Emirates, with ex-Southampton boss Nigel Adkins taking charge of the Royals for the first time.

Elsewhere, West Brom travel to Upton Park to face West Ham while Norwich are away to Wigan.

The late game this evening sees Everton play host to a struggling Stoke at Goodison Park from 5.30pm.
