Hull ended that game with ten men after Tom Huddlestone was sent off midway through the second half.
Manchester City, meanwhile, remain just three points from the summit. Frank Lampard got the only goal of the game in City's 1-0 win away to Leicester.
Elsewhere, it is now four defeats in a row for Southampton. Ashley Barnes netted the winner for Burnley in a 1-0 win at Turf Moor.
Southampton also had a Dusan Tadic penalty saved there.
It was Craig Gardner with the only goal at the Hawthorns, where West Brom enjoyed a 1-0 win against Aston Villa.
West Ham stay fourth following a 1-all draw away to Sunderland. That was the same score as Crystal Palace and Stoke at - it was James McArthur and Peter Crouch with the goals at Selhurst Park.
In the evening kick-off, Newcastle suffered a 4-1 loss against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium. It was Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla with a brace each for the home team.
