Sachin Tendulkar has many feats to his name. The India cricket icon has established himself as arguably the greatest batsman of the modern era and the 'Little Master' was the first man to score 200 in a one-day international.
Tonight, he is closing out his career in his 200th and final test match.
To mark the event, Off The Ball spoke to All Out Cricket editor John Stern who explained the making of one of the greats.
"He has conducted himself with great dignity and he has dealt with more pressure than any other cricketer. He was the optimum size for a batsman as he was not too tall. He had a low centre of gravity and his balance is fantastic. And his powers of concentration have been immense. But there is no great flourish to his technique compared to someone like Brian Lara. It is almost robotic."
While Stern rates Tendulkar as the best batsman of the modern era, he would still choose to watch West Indies legend Brian Lara because of his style.
"On a personal level, if I had my last ten quid I would pay to watch Brian Lara rather than Sachin Tendulkar because of the unpredictability and untamed genius. It almost seems harsh or rude to Tendulkar but there was something special and different about Lara. But because of the longevity, Tendulkar is the best of the modern era."
