Ryan Giggs hasd been appointed player coach at Manchester United as David Moyes firms up his management team.

The 39-year-old has been taking his UEFA coaching badges and is set to acquire a Pro Licence in a year's time.

"It's no secret I've been taking my qualification. I see this as the first step in my future career," he said.

He is likely to be joined by former Reds team-mate Phil Neville.

The recently retired ex-Everton captain isexpected to be confirmed as a member of the first team coaching staff today.
