Russell Westbrook's quest to end the season with a triple-double is not slowing down.

No player has ever played an NBA season with their match points, rebounds and assists averaging in the double figures. Against Orlando Magic on Wednesday night, Westbrook recorded his fourth consecutive triple-double in a row, and his 38th of the season.

The Oklahoma City Thunder star, who is one of the favourites to be named the NBA's Most Valuable Player this season, scored 57 points in the win. It was one point short of his own record of 58, which came in a match earlier this month against Portland.

Westbrook starred for Oklahoma City, as the side recorded their biggest comeback in the history of the team. Trailing by 21 points, at one stage, the team won 114-106 in overtime, with the 28-year-old scoring the equalising basket in the final ten seconds.

The win secured Oklahoma City's playoff spot for the seventh season in a row with eight games left in the regular season. As it stands, the team will face Houston Rockets in the opening round. Westbrook and Rockets' star James Harden are the two main contenders to be named the MVP.

Such was Westbrook's impact in Wednesday's game, Orlando's fans began chanting "MVP! MVP MVP!" as he was playing. The 28-year-old could become the second player from the Thunder to win the award, after Kevin Durant was victorious in 2014.

Even if Westbrook does not end the season with a triple-double average, he is on course to break Oscar Robertson's record of 41 in a single season. With eight games left, to achieve the feat four times, the odds are in favour of a determined Westwood.
