Manchester United have arrived for a pre-season friendly in Sweden without the injured Wayne Rooney.

The England striker was the subject of a second transfer bid from Chelsea, which United confirmed they had turned down yesterday.

According to The Sun's chief football writer Shaun Custis, Rooney's future at Old Trafford is likely to remain uncertain right up until the end of the transfer window.
