Ronald Koeman has left Southampton to become Everton's new manager. The Dutchman has signed a three-year deal with the Liverpool club.

The 53-year-old has replaced Roberto Martinez, who left the club with one-game to go after a disappointing campaign. Everton finished the Premier League season in 11th place for the second year in a row.

Koeman led Southampton to a sixth-placed finish last season. It was the second year in a row he led them into a spot in the Europa League.

“I am very excited to be Everton manager", Koeman told Everton's website. "I believe in the Club, in the team, in the fans and in our ability to achieve things in the future."

As a player, the Dutch star scored the winning goal as Barcelona won their first European Cup in 1992. He was also part of the Dutch side four years previously that won Euro '88.

He has managed around Europe and has won two Eredivisie titles with Ajax and another with PSV Eindhoven. Koeman was also won trophies in Portugal and Spain.
