Roger Federer will miss the rest of the tennis season.

The World No 3 is recovering from a knee injury, ruling him out of the Olympics and US Open.

Federer was a silver medallist at London 2012 and won gold in the doubles at Beijing in 2008.

He reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon but was beaten by eventual runner-up Milos Raonic.

He also reached the Australian Open semis but missed the French Open.
