Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists Raheem Sterling has been offered an "incredible" contract.

The England forward is yet to sign a new deal, after being offered significantly improved wages around a month ago.

Liverpool host Tottenham in the Premier League tonight, and Rodgers says it's vital that players coming through the system keep their feet on the ground.

"It's very important young players have something to strive for," said the Ulsterman.

"[If] they get too much too young then they could really sabotage their development.

"In Raheem's case he's been outstanding, but we mustn't forget - in the two-and-a-half years since he's been introduced into the squad and the team, he's been fantastic - but he still has a along way to go."
