If Liverpool can qualify for the Champions League Brendan Rodgers will be granted a €70 million transfer fund to take his side to the next level.
Liverpool owner John Henry will back his manager in the transfer market and also offer him a new three year deal, such is the Liverpool board’s satisfaction with the job Rodgers is doing at Anfield.
The Daily Mail reports Rodgers is looking to sign two centre halves, a left-back, winger, creative midfielder and a back-up striker, with a view towards competing on four fronts next season. Liverpool’s current squad has faced a relatively light workload in comparison with the other sides in the hunt for Champions League football but their squad has still been stretched dangerously thin at times.
Ukraine winger Yevhen Konoplyanka was a Liverpool target in the most recent transfer window and Rodgers may look to sign the player in the summer. Those negotiations fell through at the last minute, however, and a possible alternative target could be Benfica’s Argentinean winger Nicolas Gaitan. Other names connected with Liverpool include Swiss left-back Ricardo Rodriquez and Cardiff City centre-back Steven Caulker.
