Brendan Rodgers has praised the way in which Luis Suarez has reacted to a turbulent summer period, when the striker and his club conflicted over the player’s desire to leave for Arsenal.
Rodgers praised his striker’s attitude, which has produced some excellent displays since his return from an 8 game ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic at the end of last season. Suarez and his strike partner Daniel Sturridge have struck up a formidable partnership for Liverpool, with the Uruguayan bagging a hat-trick yesterday while Sturridge scored a brilliant chip from outside the area. Both players also struck the West Brom in the second half. The pair have now scored 14 goals between them so far in the Premier League this season.
"I knew once I got the commitment from him in the summer he wasn't going to walk out," Rodgers told the BBC.
"He's been great from then on."
"He is a tireless worker and I knew that if he stayed it would be a case of him working as he always done because he is that kind of character.
"It was a difficult summer for him but it was for everyone. But we managed it as a club and he managed himself well and he has come out of the other side and he is performing as he does, to a very high level."
Rodgers was asked after the game if it was the best his side had performed this season, and responded with an unequivocal yes,
“Absolutely, I thought we looked a very good team,” Rodgers said.
"West Brom are a very good side. They went to Old Trafford and won, so for us to score four goals - and we could have had a few more - it was an outstanding team performance."
