Brendan Rodgers has told his Liverpool players to be patient during tonight’s do-or-die Champions League decider with Basle.

The Reds go into Group B finale at Anfield needing a win to leapfrog the Swiss in second place and qualify for the knockout stages behind Real Madrid.

But Rodgers insists patience will be a virtue while admitting the Kop may have a big influence on matters as is their want on big European nights.

“We don’t need to win the game in the first minute,” said the Ulsterman.

“We always have to have our concentration and focus and if we can do that I believe that we will have a great chance ... aligned to the supporters, and, with the passion that they put in, it gives us a great chance.”
