Reports in France claim the Bernard Jackman is to leave Top 14 side Grenoble with immediate effect.

The former Ireland hooker joined the team in 2011, before moving up the ranks and eventually becoming head coach. Currently Grenoble lie in 13th place in the Top 14, 13 points behind Stade Francais in the race for safety.

According to Le Dauphine Libere, Jackman is to meet with club president Eric Pilaud on Tuesday afternoon. With his contract up at the end of the season, reports claim Jackman will not be offered a contract extension, and will seek an immediate release from his contract.

Forwards coach Aaron Dundon (a former Leinster hooker) and coach Mike Prendergast (a former Munster scrum-half) are expected to stay on as temporary coaches until the end of the season.

Grenoble have been in the Top 14 since the start of the 2012-13 season, after gaining promotion from the Pro D2. The team have only won the French title once in their history, winning the title in 1954. They also finished second, more recently in 1993.

One of Ireland's most respected coaches, Jackman may now return to Ireland in a bid to work with the home provinces. He has links with Connacht and Leinster having played for both.
