The city of Madrid has signed off on plans to renovate Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

The La Liga giants' home ground will undergo a €400 million refurbishments, which will include the installation of a roof.

Real are expected to fund the works by selling off the naming rights to the stadium which they have called home since 1947.

According to Spanish daily El Pais, work is expected to begin this summer and continue through 2018 and 2019.

La Liga champions Real will play in this season's Champions League final on Saturday with Juventus the opposition standing between them and the extension of their European Cup record to 12 wins.
