Reading will have a shot at promotion to the Premier League after making the play-off final at Wembley.
They beat Fulham 1-0 on the night to go through 2-1 on aggregate.
They will face Huddersfield or Sheffield Wednesday, who play each other on Wednesday night.
Having drawn their first leg 1-1 at Craven Cottage, tonight Yann Kermorgant scored a penalty for Reading four minutes after half time following a handball from Fulham defender Tomas Kalas.
That was enough to separate the sides and gets Reading to within a game of returning to the Premier League.
They originally achieved promotion to the top flight in 2005-06 with a first team squad that included Ireland strikers Kevin Doyle and Shane Long, before suffering relegation at the end of the 2007-08 season.
However, they achieved promotion again in 2011-12 before suffering immediate relegation the following season.
Fulham were relegated from the Premier League the next season in 2013-14 and have not returned since.
