The Scottish Football Association has charged crisis club Rangers and businessman Mike Ashley with breaching several rules over dual ownership.

Ashley, who owns Newcastle in the Premier League, is a minority shareholder at Ibrox but has increased his influence in the boardroom recently.

His stake in Rangers is just over 8 per cent.

The news comes after this morning's announcement morning that manager Ally McCoist had resigned.
