Best goals...

It's not very often that you see a player score directly from a corner. But that's exactly what Sligo Rovers' Joseph N'Do did in a 3 - 0 win at UCD. The Cameroonian midfielder definitely meant it as well. After the game, he muttered something about having netted a similar goal earlier in his career.

Winger Kieran Djilali also scored a sweetly struck volley in that game but his goal was over-shadowed by team-mate N'Do.

Back in July, UCD also scored a fantastic goal in a 2 - 1 defeat at home to Shelbourne. Midfielder Craig Walsh got the ball 30 yards out. It didn't look like there was much he could do from there. But he just hammered it and it found the top corner - right in the postage stamp.

Bohemians' Ryan McEvoy also scored a bullet header in a 2 - 0 win at home to Derry City, in an extra-ordinary personal performance which saw him score twice and almost get on the scoresheet on numerous occasions.

Best away fans...

Only one club wins this award this season. I always enjoy covering Derry City's away games as they are always in full voice, putting their own twist to songs like The Undertones' 'Teenage Kicks'.

I once requested that they do a version of the Harlem Shake and the club tweeted this to me to let me know they were well ahead of me.

Shout out to...

UCD manager Martin Russell is the perfect man for a tough job. Constantly hemorrhaging key players and with a restricted budget, you would understand it if the boss lost the rag.

I covered a few games where The Students were hammered. But whether it was the 6 - 0 defeat to Derry City at the start of the season, or the 4 - 1 hammering to Shamrock Rovers two weeks ago, Russell was always calm and composed in post-match interviews.

He always emphasized his understanding of the limitations and encouraged his players to keep playing progressive football. They got their just reward. Despite being perennial relegation candidates, they survived yet again and Russell should get a fair amount of credit.

Finally all the best to Bohs' Owen Heary as he retires. Top player and a sound lad to boot.

Best players...

St Pat's Killian Brennan, Ger O'Brien and Chris Forrester impressed me whenever I saw them up close.

Derry City's Rory Patterson is simply a goal machine and only rarely failed to score at the games I was at. They also have talented youngsters in Barry McNamee and Michael Duffy who were particularly outstanding in games against UCD and Shels' respectively.

Bray's Jason Byrne might be getting on in age, but watching his movement and the way he still gets in the right areas is a joy to watch.

Sligo Rovers' Kieran Djilali showed himself to be extremely tricky and set up both goals when I was at Tallaght Stadium on Friday night. Aaron Greene is another player who has impressed me in Sligo colours.

Funny moment...

Bohemians' 2 - 1 defeat to Limerick at Dalymount Park featured a mix-up which the Bohs kit man can take the blame for.

It took 22 minutes for the referee and the 22 players to realize that there were two Bohs' No 22s on the pitch...
