One of the most open secrets in football has been confirmed with the news that Rafael Benitez has been confirmed as the new manager of Real Madrid.

The 55 year old, left Napoli last weekend after his contract ran out at the Italian club. His tenure in Naples lasted two seasons where he won the Coppa Italia.

Benitez, who started his career at Real Madrid, played for the sides reserve team for seven years before beginning his managerial career, joins the club on a three year deal.

In his time as manager of Valencia, he won two league titles, before winning the Champions League with Liverpool.
