Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is moving closer to taking over at Newcastle.

Current boss Steve McClaren has taken training this morning.

However he is said to be meeting the clubs hierarchy at some stage today.

Some outlets are reporting that Benitez has already agreed a three-year deal.

The Daily Mail says the Spaniard, who was most recently sacked by Real Madrid, could be put in charge of Newcastle before Monday's away trip to face league leaders Leicester City.

Spanish sports daily Marca claim that Benitez has already decided to take the job.
