Rachel Riley is reportedly quitting her role as a Sky Sports football presenter, following a comment she made about Tottenham Hotspur last month.

Spurs suffered a 1-0 defeat to West Ham in May which effectively killed off their chances of winning the Premier League.

Following the game, Riley described the result as a 'proper bottle job' for the London side, which sparked outrage among fans.

It's believed that club officials also lodged a complaint on the back of Riley's comments, which subsequently led to her being excluded from the programme the following week, where Chelsea secured the title with a win over West Brom.

Riley published an apology message on Twitter for her remark, while also adding that the abuse she received was 'hideous.'

The Times reports that Sky Sports offered Riley a new contract, but that she declined in order to explore other opportunities.

It also claims that she will no longer be the co-host of Sky's Fantasy Football Club show, alongside Paul Merson and Max Rushden.
