For a club that has joined the elite by spending astronomical sums of money, the latest developments at PSG have gone slightly under the radar.

The French league leaders are set to offer manager Laurent Blanc a new contract, which seems to have ended their long-time pursuit of Arsene Wenger.

They are also set to redevelop their Parc de Princes stadium instead of moving out of Paris' south-west suburb.

But on the pitch, they are on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages for the second season in succession.

Judging by the way they stretched Barcelona in last season's quarter-finals, they are a club that Europe's biggest clubs will hope to avoid in the latter stages of the Champions League.

European football aficionado Graham Hunter spoke to Off The Ball tonight and he thinks PSG are on the right track.

"When I was working with [ex-PSG and Tottenham winger] David Ginola earlier this year, he said they are potential winners of this tournament. The owners have invested steadily and intelligently. They have managed to maintain their big players. Broadly the Cavani and Ibrahimovic partnership is working, although there is more to come. Last year was a bedding in year and they are really taking shape this season. They will also spend when necessary. They are a really serious side now."
