League of Ireland champions will take on FAI Cup winners at Turner's Cross for the 2017 President's Cup.

Dundalk finished seven points ahead of Cork in the league when they were crownded champions for the third year in a row.

However, the leesiders beat the lillywhites at the Aviva Stadium in the FAI Cup final last November and denied Stephen Kenny's men a domestic double.

Speaking to Newstalk Sport ahead of the game, the Dundalk manager said: "It's been a great rivalry over the last two seasons. We've managed to win the league three years in a row but obviously Cork beat us in the FAI Cup final this year with that late, late goal.

There was enarly 30,000 at that match and this is the first game since. Turner's Cross will have a big crowd I'm sure for the visit of Dundalk. We've surrendered home advantage again in the President's Cup for the second year in a row because of the changes in our own ground.

"Turner's Cross is a good venue and we look forward to going there and it's a good opener before we play shamrock Rovers in the league next week," he added.
