The Premier League website has dropped a hint about the timing of Jose Mourinho’s return to English football. The official Premier League website published a story this morning announcing Mourinho’s return to Chelsea, with Monday, June 3 as the date. The story has since been removed, with the Premier League later telling the BBC that the post was an error, and they had no inside knowledge of any deal.
The subheading on the article read “Jose Mourinho returns for second stint as Chelsea manager. Portuguese signs x-year-deal.”
The body of the story read:
"Jose Mourinho has returned to Stamford Bridge after agreeing to take over as Chelsea manager for the second time.
The 50-year-old Portuguese, who guided Chelsea to back-to-back Barclays Premier League titles in his first two seasons in charge, returns to the west London club after an absence of almost six-years."
Mourinho took charge of Real Madrid for the final time yesterday, in a 4-2 win over Osasuna at the Bernabeu. Screengrab of article
