Everton moved back into the top 4 this afternoon as a 2-0 win completed an afternoon that began with the unveiling of new signing Aiden McGeady at Goodison Park. The win was Norwich’s sixth game without a win.

Gareth Barry scored a spectacular 20 yard shot to open the scoring. It was his 3rd Everton goal and his 50th in the Premier League. Kevin Mirallas added another in the second half with a free kick from a similar distance to Barry’s earlier strike.

The scoreline was justified as the Toffees controlled the game and new signing Aiden McGeady, watching from the stands following his presentation to the Goodison Park faithful before kick-off, will know he faces a challenge to break into a first 11 that can dominate sides in this manner.

Adam Lallana scored his fifth league goal of the season to give Southampton a 1-0 win over West Brom.
The win is just the second for the Saints in the last 10 league games.

Shane Long came close to leveling the game late on but the striker, with a bid from Hull City fresh in this morning, was denied by a save from Artur Boruc.

Wet Ham won a game for the first time since the end of November with a 2-0 win over Cardiff.

Andy Carroll made his return to the Hammers side as a second half substitute and he set up the second goal of the afternoon as he created the opportunity for Mark Noble to wrap things up at Cardiff City stadium.

The goal came against the run of play. Cardiff had dominated for the second half as they battled to come back from Carlton Cole’s opening goal late in the first half.

Jason Puncheon missed a memorably appalling penalty for Crystal palace this afternoon and his ineptitude from 12 yards was repaid with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Spurs.

It was Jermain Defoe’s afternoon at White Hart Lane however, as the Tottenham veteran, playing in his final month for the club before moving to play for Toronto in the MLS at the end of February, scored the second goal of the game. Defore came into the match as a second half substitute for Roberto Soldado and added to Christian Eriksen’s first half strike.

Sunderland had a comfortable afternoon in London, winning 4-1 over Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Adam Johnson scored a hat-trick, with Ki Sung-Yeung scoring the other for Gus Poyet’s side.

Fulham’s goal came from Steve Sidwell, who steered in a Damien Duff cross to make the game 2-1.

Premier League results:

Hull City 0-2 Chelsea

Everton 2-0 Norwich

Fulham 1-4 Sunderland

Southampton 1-0 West Brom

Tottenham 2-0 Crystal Palace

Cardiff 0-2 West Ham
