The Premier League is believed to be close to completing a deal to introduce goal-line technology for next season. 

It is thought a system will also be installed at Wembley.

Last week, Fifa awarded German firm GoalControl the contract to supply equipment to this summer's Confederations Cup.

The issue reared its head again last weekend during Southampton's win overReading when there was much debate over the possibility that Saints keeper Artur Boruc carried the ball over his line in the second half. A goal was not awarded in that particular situation.
