The shortlist for the prestigious FIFA Ballon d'Or has been announced and as always it's a three-man panel.

Award holder Cristiano Ronaldo as well as Barcelona pair Lionel Messi and Neymar are the finalists for the world governing body's award.

The ceremony takes place on the January 11th in Zurich.

Messi and Neymar can point to being part of an ultra-successful Barca team that achieved the treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League, whereas Ronaldo 

Individually however, Ronaldo scored 48 La Liga goals last season, with Messi on 43 and Neymar, who scored in the Champions League final win over Juventus, back on 22.

Messi led the way on assists with 18, two ahead of Ronaldo.

This campaign, injury has disrupted Messi, while Neymar tops the La Liga scoring charts on 14, five goals clear of Ronaldo has been slightly below par at times.
