Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have announced that they will donate €1m to help with the refugee crisis throughout Europe. The European champions have also announced plans to set up a “training camp” for refugees.

The moves come after supporters at clubs around Germany displayed banners saying “Refugees Welcome”.

This weekend the GAA will reap a windfall with two full houses at Croke Park, to go with one last weekend. Saturday’s All-Ireland semi-final between Dublin and Mayo is a particular boon for the association, as the game will likely mean several million extra for the association. 2012’s All-Ireland hurling final replay brought in €2.8m, and the association can hope for something similar on Saturday, and on Sunday.

The GAA’s total revenues in 2013 were €55m, while Bayern’s were €432.8m (although they have significantly higher wage bills), so clearly the Germans dwarf the amateur association - but is there a case to be made that the GAA could make a donation, from the profit on Saturday’s replay, to the refugee crisis?

Can the Association offer to open training camps for Syrian refugee children if they arrive in Ireland?
