"I know a team has rules and you have to abide by them. But what kind of rules are there now? What is expected of players now that on your own time, you can't go out? I think the no drinking rules have gone absolutely haywire. But to actually go out and not drink, surely you should be complimented for that kind of commitment. These fellas could be in college, they could be away and want to go out and they actually go to the trouble of avoiding drink. Why would you be punished and humiliated for that. Where has the GAA gone?"

That was Off The Ball's Colm 'Wooly' Parkinson discussing the Clare situation on last night's show after two players left the panel over punishments.

It feeds into a debate about the expectation on modern GAA players and whether as Joe Brolly asserted, they are now little more than "indentured slaves" despite being officially amateur.

Do you think there is too much expected of modern players in terms of rules and commitment levels?
