Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says Emmanuel Adebayor still has a role to play at the club - after he was denied a move on transfer deadline day. 

The Togolese striker looked due to go on loan to West Ham - until Spurs blocked the deal because the Hammers seen as direct rivals.

Pochettino says the former Arsenal and Manchester City forward remains committed.

"We are happy too, that he stays here," said the Argentine. "He's a very important player. I have confidence in him, like in any other player."

Pochettino's comments come on the back of Adebayor's insistence that he is happy to remain at White Hart Lane.
