Andrea Pirlo has reportedly told Juventus that he wants to be released from his contract in order to join New York City FC.
The World Cup-winning Italy legend has one year left on his deal with the Serie A champions and Champions League runners-up and is said to be in talks with the MLS club.
If the deal were to happen, the former AC Milan deep-lying playmaker would play alongside ex-Chelsea and Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard, who is yet to make his debut for New York.
