No matter what happens for the rest of the summer, the shock caused by Westmeath knocking Kilkenny out of the Leinster U-21 Hurling Championship will be hard beaten.

Adrian Moran's side defeated Kilkenny by 1-11 to 0-12, after surviving a last-minute penalty to book their place in the semi-finals against either Dublin or Wexford on June 15th. Those two teams play next week in Wexford.

Even after the game, the scenes in the dressing room, saw local radio reporter Seamus Cooney join in in the celebrations with the team after the historic win.

Castlepollard's Warren "Batch" Casserly epitomised Westmeath's commitment in the game. The midfielder took a selfie after the game of a nasty cut on his forehead. He somehow played on as Westmeath went on to win the game.
