Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes says that there's plenty of attacking talent in the United squad at the moment but that they are not being used in the right way stylistically by manager Louis van Gaal.

United are currently in fifth place in the table, but could still claim a Champions League qualifying spot,  and are also set to contest this season's FA Cup final.

Scholes told Sky Sports News that a change of style and some new players are required for next season.

"I think there's a lot of talent in the squad, it's probably just the way they've been playing that hasn't been entertaining enough.

"There's lads who we've been there a year now like Memphis and Schneiderlin who'll hopefully will be better next year. I don't think there's major surgery needed. I think we need possibly a centre-forward and a centre-half and maybe a little bit of creativity in midfield. If we can find that, maybe a different style of playing football, then I think United fans would be happy," he said.
