Greystones golfer Paul Dunne began his PGA Tour career with an impressive top-15 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open in Torrey Pines.

Bad weather and high winds forced the tournament into a fifth day, which saw Dunne finish the tournament on level par after a five-over-par final round of 77.

Brandt Snedeker won the tournament without hitting a shot on Monday. The former Ryder Cup player finished his round on Sunday, shooting a three-under-par round of 69. He was the only player to go under par during the fourth round and beat KJ Choi by a shot.

Dunne's impressive finish earned him over $125,000 (€115,000 approx) for his top-15 finish. It is by far the biggest prize-money Dunne has won since turning professional.

The Wicklow star's performance has also earned him a place at the Waste Management Phoenix Open later this week in Arizona. Dunne will play at least three weeks in a row on the PGA Tour as he is already scheduled to play at Pebble Beach next week.

It was an impressive weekend for Irish golfers in California. Shane Lowry also finished on level par to join Dunne in tied 13th place.
