The new Pairc Ui Chaoimh stadium will not host either of this year's Munster finals, with the Cork County Board confirming that they would miss the scheduled handover date.

The Munster Senior Football Championship final between Cork and Kerry, as well as the Munster Senior Hurling Championship final between Clare and Waterford/Cork will now go ahead at unconfirmed venues.

"Clearly we are disappointed but we want everything to be pristine before the stadium hosts its first major games," said Cork County Board Chairman, Ger Lane.

"We want to be certain that all the expectations for this tremendous new facility will be fully met and we are satisfied that this will be the case by mid July."

The Cork County Board say they were informed this morning that the scheduled handover date of June 18th would not be met as the stadium is not ready to host the games.

The board explain that some "commissioning works" still needed to be completed.

They have pushed this date back to July 7th. The first game to take part in the new stadium is set for "mid July" and may host hurling qualifiers.
