Two dropped shots in the final two holes cost Padraig Harrington a chance of going to his first US Open since 2013.
The three-time major winner was playing at Walton Heath on Monday afternoon in the International Sectional Qualifiers where 13 spots were on offer.
Harrington looked like booking his spot at Oakmont and earning a top-ten finish as he was lying on -3 on the 17th tee. A bogey on the final two holes, meant the Dubliner missed out on the play-offs by a shot.

"We knew what the story was. It's disappointing," Harrington told Sky Sports after his round. "Dropping a shot at 17 put me in a precarious place at the last."
France's Gregory Bourdy won the two-round qualifying event on -9. He finished two shots clears of Sweden's Mikael Lundberg. Paul Dunne and Peter Lawrie also missed out on qualifying.
The US Open begins on June 16. Former champions Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell will lead the Irish challenge along with Darren Clarke and Shane Lowry.
