Captain John O'Shea has called for "a reaction" from his Sunderland players as they come to terms with being the first side to lose a home Premier League match to QPR this season.

Last night's 2-0 defeat by the Londoners at the Stadium of Light means the Black Cats are just two points clear of the relegation places.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, captain John O'Shea admitted his side have a lot of making up to do.

"We were under the cosh right from the start," said the Waterford man. "That's something we will have to improve on - which we had been doing, which was the surprising thing for us. And disappointing as well.

"We have to lick our wounds very quickly. We have a Cup game against Bradford (away on Sunday) to look forward to, but we need a reaction."
