Oprah Winfrey is producing a new docu-series about the first openly gay NFL player.

Michael Sam made history after opening up about his sexuality, while playing college football at the University of Missouri. Last week he was drafted by the St Louis Rams.

In a statement Oprah said: 'We are honoured that Michael is trusting us with his private journey in this moment that has not only made history but will shape it forever. I am proud of the focus on authentic storytelling in our new documentary series format.
