North-East correspondents George Caulkin (The Times) and Luke Edwards (The Telegraph) also cover Ireland matches for their respective publications.

With all the excitement surrounding Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane's first game in charge, the dup were in Dublin so they popped into studio with Football Show stalwart Dan McDonnell of the Irish Independent to discuss the management combo.

Edwards made an interesting observation during the debate.

He said: "I think O'Neill always intended that in his next job he would appoint Keane as his assistant. I don't think that had anything to do with Ireland. I genuinely believe that even if he hadn't got the Sunderland job. He'd lost John Robertson who had been his lieutenant and his sounding board and Martin doesn't want an assistant that is a yes man."

Caulkin and Edwards also touched on Keane's time at Sunderland and feel he was a success there at a very low ebb for the Blacks Cats.
