Martin O'Neill and Tony Pulis are in the running to replace Tony Mowbray as Middlesbrough boss.
Mowbray was sacked last night, with the Championship club sixteenth in the table after picking up just twelve points from their first twelve games this season.
O'Neill had been the early favourite to become the next Ireland manager.
However he has since dropped down the favourites list, with Mick McCarthy and Roy Keane ahead of him.
McCarthy has not ruled himself out of the running for the Ireland job, while Keane is said to have contacted the selection panel to express his interest via third parties.
