The Men’s 1500m Final will be one of the races of the day at GloHealth Senior Track and Field Championships on Sunday 20th July as there are now four 1500m qualifiers for the European Track and Field Championships with Ciaran O'Lionaird running 3:37.72 last night to win at the Watford BMC, inside the qualification standard of 3:39.30.

 The Corkman joins Paul Robinson (3:36.45, 5th June), John Travers (3:37.27, 11th July) and David McCarthy (3:39.14 , 2nd Feb -indoors) who have also secured qualification standards.

At the same race in Watford, Eoin Everard (Kilkenny City Harriers) was fourth in 03:40.4, his season’s best stands at 3:39.64 which he ran at the Morton Games (through 1500m in the Morton Mile).

The athlete who wins the National Championships and has achieved the performance standard (as specified in the selection policy) within the qualification period will be automatically selected.

The  team selectors will have sole discretion to decide which of the other qualified athlete(s) are selected. Selectors  may consider the following championship potential, consideration of fastest qualification times and based on current form.

The Irish team for the European Track and Field Championships will be announced on Monday 21st of July at 12pm at  a press conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Santry.
