Brian O'Driscoll has been dropped as Ireland captain for the Six Nations campaign and replaced by Jamie Heaslip.

Ireland coach Declan Kidney said O’Driscoll is “very disappointed” but the centre understands the reasons behind the decision.

According to Kidney they want the 33 year old to concentrate on getting himself right following an injury hit season. Kidney added it's not about planning for the future as it is not the centre’s last campaign.

Connacht full back Robbie Henshaw is named as part of 39 man training squad for the Six Nations and Wolfhounds match against England on Friday week.

It was also announced that Munster Assistant Coach Anthony Foley and Leinster Rugby's Greg Feek will be part of that coaching team for the Wolfhounds game and will continue to work with the Ireland squad throughout the Championship.
