Northampton Saints have kept up the pressure on Leinster in Pool 1 of the Heineken Cup with a 27-16 win over Ospreys at Franklin Gardens.

Tries from Samu Manoa, Christian Day and Ben Foden were too much for the Welsh side, whose only scores came from Dan Biggar’s converted try and three penalties.

The win places the Ospreys in a perilous position as they have no points from their first two pool games and now look almost certain to miss out on qualification.

Perpignan move ahead of Munster in Pool 6, with a 31-14 win over Edinburgh at Stade Aimé Giral.

Edinburgh led at half-time but tries from Joffrey Michel and Windile Mjekevu early in ths econd half put the French side back on top. A third from Justin Purll and a second for Mjekevu completed a convincing bonus point win.

In the third game of the day Glasgow Warriors were 20-16 winners over Exeter Chiefs.
