Nicolas Roche has dropped further down the rankings after a difficult day for Team Sky at the Giro d'Italia.

Team leader Mikel Landa was forced to abandon the race during the early stages of today's 220 kilometre through the Apennine mountains, which will force Roche, Philip Deignan and the rest of the Team Sky riders to reassess their plans for the rest of this year's race.

Stage 10 was won by Italian Giulio Ciccone in his first season as a professional.

Roche is now the best placed Team Sky rider but he is in 26th place overall and nine minutes behind the new race leader, Bob Jungels of Luxembourg
