Nico Rosberg strengthened his position at the top of the Driver's Championship, by claiming pole position ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.

Rosberg earned his place at the front of the grid, having beaten Hamilton's time on the 0.013 seconds. The Ferrari duo of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel will start on the second row of the grid, with Red Bull teammates Max Verstappen and last week's winner Daniel Ricciardo starting in fifth and sixth.

Despite starting on pole position in the previous two years, he still has to win at Suzuka.

A win for either Rosberg on Hamilton on Sunday could have a large say in who goes on to win the World Championship in November.
