Manchester United's academy boss Nicky Butt says it is "well too soon" for Marcus Rashford to receive an England call-up.

The teenage striker scored four goals in his first two games after making his debut but he has not found the net in their last four matches.

Manager Louis van Gaal's used a number of academy players this season and Butt has been impressed with how they have coped, telling Sky Sports News that,"It's massive for the club to have players coming through their own academies. A lot of them have done unbelievably well to get to there. Maybe it's come from a bit more necessity rather than the right timing. Obviously there's a lot of injuries that the first team's had, but when they've all come on, they've performed unbelievably well."

But he had a word of warning when it comes to the potential for Rashford to get a surprise call-up to the England squad for this summer's European Championships.

"I think that's well too soon for Marcus. It could backfire on everybody and might not be the right thing for him," Butt told BBC Sport.

Rashford, who has four goals in seven Man United appearances, has represented his country at under-16 and under-18 level.
