It’s Cheltenham week, and that means for horse racing enthusiasts it’s the biggest, most important jump racing week of the year. For everyone else it’s the annual opportunity to immerse themselves in the racing world, with a week of the highest standard of racing building up to Friday’s grand finale, The Cheltenham Gold Cup.

If you’re something of a national hunt novice you’re as well off arming yourself with as much helpful info as you can before you waltz into the local turf accountants and put your hard earned cash on a horse who may, or may not, be utterly hopeless. With that in mind we have endeavoured to provide you with as much pre-festival info as possible in the build up to your forays into the bookies.

That trend continued on Newstalk Sport Saturday, as this week’s panel discussion was a preview of the Cheltenham festival, with Johnny Ward of the Racing Post, Ladbrokes' Hayley O'Connor and BBC racing correspondent Cornelius Lysaght joining Joe Molloy to discuss this year’s racing.

With a festival that looks set to be heavily disrupted by weather – temperatures at the track tomorrow are expected to drop to minus 5 – many people’s favourites will be negatively affected, and there could be scope for some upsets and big wins.
