Newstalk has won a silver award at the New York Festivals World's Best Radio Programs.

Eoin Brennan picked up the accolade for his documentary "Never Ignored: Ollie's Reds" in the Sports and Recreation category.

His production tells the remarkable story of former Shelboure FC owner Ollie Byrne.

The documentary brings the listener from Byrne's early days running nightclubs and managing bands on the Dublin rock scene of the 1970s, to leading his beloved Shelbourne to the brink of Champions League qualification in 2004 - before a dramatic collapse of the club just two years later.

The New York Festivals honour "the world's best radio programmes" - with entrants from 30 countries this year.

The awards ceremony took place in New York City last night.
