A new Parma football club has been given the go-ahead to enter Italian football's Serie D.
The new team will be named Parma Calcio 1913, named after the founding year of the original team
Parma Calcio 1913 was chosen ahead of another Parma team by the Italian Football Federation.
The two-time Uefa Cup winners went bankrupt in March with more than €200m debt, although they were allowed to finish the season. After finishing last in Serie A, Parma were disbanded when no buyer came forward willing to take on the debt.
The new club is backed by pasta maker Guido Barilla with ex-coach Nevio Scala as president. Scala guided Parma to three of their four European successes in the 1990s.
