Brazil came from a goal down to beat Croatia 3 - 1 in the opening match at the 2014 World Cup.

Two goals from Brazilian talisman Neymar and a late finish by Oscar helped the tournament hosts to take the lead in Sao Paulo.

A scrappy own goal by Brazil full-back Marcelo after just 11 minutes had threatened to spoil the atmosphere inside the Corinthians Stadium.

But Neymar equalised just befor the half-hour mark with a low, bobbling shot from outside penalty area that went in off the base of the post.

The Barcelona star then put his side ahead with a 71st minute penalty after the referee controversially ruled that Fred had been dragged down inside the area.

There appeared to be little contact between Fred and Southampton defender Dejan Lovren.

Oscar then beat Stipe Pletikosa with a late toe-poked shot from outside the area.
