Katie Taylor has escalated her war of words with Delfine Persoon with just over a week to go until their rematch.

The pair are due to meet again for Taylor's undisputed lightweight titles as part of Matchroom's Fight Camp series on Saturday August 22.

It was their original contest in June of last year that saw Taylor take Persoon's WBC title on a majority decision to become the undisputed champion.

The outcome of the fight has been a bone of contention for all involved ever since the decision was announced, with many thinking the Belgian should have been awarded the victory.

"If we had rounds of three minutes it would be better for me," Persoon told Sky Sports in July.

"I know she wouldn't box with me for three minutes. She will run.

"In the first fight there was a lot of holding, holding, holding. In another country they would tell you: 'Don't hold' then take away a point. But they never spoke about her holding me."

Persoon's tactical analysis hasn't sat well with Taylor.

She's poured scorn on the Belgian's defeat to Nikoleta Peta at the European qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympics back in March.

"She needs to learn how to box," the Bray fighter told Sky.

"That's probably why she lost in the Olympic qualifier against an unranked amateur fighter.

"She's the type who would say Floyd Mayweather runs as well, but he's the best boxer of his generation.

"It's called the sweet science."
